The focus of this course is the development of management capabilities in the context of dynamic organisational environments. It is aimed at career professionals with an undergraduate degree and work experience, or exceptional students who hold a cognate undergraduate degree, who seek to strengthen their career progression and enhance their management knowledge and skills. This course will develop students' capacity as innovative future-ready professionals able to apply specialist knowledge to complex management issues and provide the basis for specialist study in a specified stream of management: Managing organisations or People, culture and human resource strategy. The course is suitable for those who occupy or aspire to management positions in business, government, community, service and non-profit organisations, and is designed to provide students with a comprehensive, intellectually demanding and up-to-date understanding of management/human resource management theory and practice. Mastery knowledge and Part B. Application studies. Part A. Mastery knowledge These units will provide you with a comprehensive understanding of core management principles, contemporary practice and leadership and their impact on multi-discipline decision-making in organisations. These units will develop your capacity as an innovative future-ready professional who is able to apply specialist knowledge to complex management issues and will provide the basis for specialist study in a specified stream of management: Managing organisations or People, culture and human resource strategy. Part B. Application studies The focus of these studies is professional or scholarly work that can contribute to a portfolio of professional development. You will consider the role of the manager and the application of management theory within organisations, in regard to your specified stream. Various models of leadership and management will be considered including emerging views that address complexity in contemporary organisations. Master's entry points Depending on prior qualifications you may receive entry level credit (a form of block credit) which determines your point of entry to the course: Students admitted at entry level 1 complete 96 points, comprising Part A and Part B. Students admitted at entry level 2 complete 72 points, comprising Part A and Part B (24 points). Students admitted at entry level 3 complete 48 points, comprising Part A. Note: Students eligible for credit for prior studies may elect not to receive the credit and complete the higher credit-point option. Alternative exit(s) You may exit this course early and apply to graduate with one of the following awards, provided you have satisfied the requirements for that award during your enrolment in this masters' course: Graduate Certificate of Business after successful completion of 24 credit points of study with a minimum of 18 credit points at level 4 or above Graduate Diploma of Business after successful completion of 48 credit points of study with a minimum of 36 credit points at level 4 or above.
